Two points about the iPhone prototype leak

Now that it turns out the iPhone prototype “found at a bar” is real, two points come to mind:

  1. I’m not Steve Jobs, but if I were, I would cancel this iPhone launch and jump to working on the next one. I’m a perfectionist, and the unveiling is a huge part of the product ritual Apple is in the business of selling. Without it, the Apple experience just won’t be right.

  2. I’m not Steve Jobs, but if I were, I would sue Gizmodo into the ground. I see little reason what they did should be protected as “free speech” - it isn’t exactly exposing corrupt officials. All considered, it servers no purpose other than to enrich themselves, and clearly hurts Apple’s shareholders.

Disclaimer: I may be crazy. Time will tell.

Follow-up thought: Another Case Against Gizmodo

Follow-up thought #2: taking a look at the numbers, moving the iPhone launch seems really silly. I still stand by prediction #2.
